Ruth Dangelmaier, Ph.D. - Psychologist

Dr. Dangelmaier received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Kent State University and she is a licensed psychologist in Washington state. She completed her internship at the University of San Diego and her postdoctoral residency at the University of Wyoming. Dr. Dangelmaier worked as a project coordinator for a grant examining the effectiveness of TF-CBT at the Medical University of South Carolina before moving to Washington. She has over 15 years of clinical experience in community mental health centers, outpatient clinics, and university counseling centers. She has taught college classes in psychology and has conducted research in psychosis, trauma and substance use. Dr. Dangelmaier has published articles in prestigious journals such as the Journal of Abnormal Psychology.   


Dr. Dangelmaier specifically enjoys working with young adults and college students. She spent several years at the University of Puget Sound as a staff psychologist and director of the pre-doctoral internship training program.  Dr. Dangelmaier also enjoys working with adolescents and adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression and eating concerns.  She values the importance of the therapeutic relationship and the use of humor in therapy. Additionally, she has found that insight into patterns can be an important catalyst for behavior change.
